EastEnders shock as Cindy Beale betrays mother in law Kathy Cotton over the fire
EASTENDERS’ Cindy Beale is back up to her old tricks by getting mother-in-law Kathy Cotton arrested for the cafe fire.
The villain – who is played by actress Michelle Collins in the BBC soap – is blaming Kathy for her son Peter’s condition in hospital.


Peter is fighting for his life in a coma after being caught up in the fire trying to save his brother Bobby.
But deciding to take revenge on Kathy, Cindy spotted the fire investigator and pounced.
She said: “Excuse me, I don’t want to interfere with your job but my son was injured in the fire. I know the owner and I know a lot more about the fire…”
Back in the hospital Cindy was devastated to discover the doctors had been unable to wake Peter up from his coma.
Lying to Ian about where she’d been, she glossed over her reunion with George and her chat with the fire investigator and instead claimed she’d just been to get him clothes.
Sitting in the corridor with Ian, the pair were approached by Kathy and
“He’s going to pull through,” she said.
“He’s a fighter like his mum.”
But as Cindy looked on the police arrived to arrest Kathy.
“Kathy Cotton?” asked the officer.
“I’m DC Makin from Walford CID. I’m arresting you for criminal damage by fire where life is endangered.
“You do not have to say anything but it may harm your defence if you do not mention when questioned something you later rely on in court. Anything you do say may be given in evidence.”
Cindy looked smug as Kathy was arrested and fans are in shock at the twist.
One wrote: “Cindy dropping Cathy in it! 😮”
A second said: “Cindy being sneaky but you know she’s gonna be found out.”
Another added: “I don’t know how I feel about Cindy shopping Kathy to the police.”
